Renée and Lyn Bronson offer a coordinated approach to piano instruction
based on a thorough grounding in music fundamentals for beginning and
intermediate students as well as systematic professional training for
advanced students and adults. The goal of this instruction is to enjoy
music making and to acquire the confidence to perform for others.
The emphasis on music theory, rhythmic training and sight reading makes
this instruction a natural enhancement of school music programs on the
Monterey Peninsula.
Since people enjoy doing what they do well our goal is to help beginning
and intermediate students succeed in understanding music and playing the
piano to the best of their ability. For intermediate and advanced students we utilize our extensive library of recorded music to introduce them. to playing on the highest artistic
level. And, whenever possible, we find opportunities for them to hear
live music concerts and recitals on the Monterey Peninsula.
Bi-weekly classes are scheduled on Friday afternoons from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, either at our studio or at the homes of participating students.
In these classes students of all ages play solo and ensemble pieces.
There is no extra fee for these performance classes.
The atmosphere of these classes is relaxed and informal. After the class
the students have an opportunity to mix at a small reception with cider
and cookies for the students and wine and hors d'oeuvres for the
parents.
Performance classes encourage the student to acquire a poised and
confident stage presence.
Approximately half of our students develop the confidence, mental
toughness and motivation to perform in public. In addition to performing
in several student recitals and performance classes each year, we
encourage these students to enter competitive auditions at the local,
state or national level.
Entering competitive auditions promotes a higher level of finished
artistry in students and develops a high degree of confidence in public
situations where stress and anxiety have to be effectively controlled.
Entering auditions helps prepare students to withstand the pressures of
competitive sports, public speaking and other stressful activities.
Additionally, significant public and press recognition as well as cash
awards can be earned by the highly motivated. For these students, as a
part of their training, we arrange for many opportunities to play in
public at various locations around the Monterey Peninsula.
An interview is required with prospective students and the parents in
order to make an initial assessment of a beginning student's readiness
to begin lessons or to determine the placement level of a continuing student. There is no charge for this initial interview.
Tuition fees for hourly or half-hour lessons per week are payable at the
first lesson of each month for the month in advance.
